Why is regular developmental screening important?

Regular developmental screenings can help parents discover developmental delays early. The ASQ gives parents a better understanding of their child’s general, social, and emotional development. The ASQ ensures children’s special needs and/or developmental delays are known earlier. The ASQ helps families connect to the right early intervention services and community resources.

What is the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ)?

The ASQ is a trustworthy and valid screening tool created by researchers. This screening tool is easy to read and complete. It is a checklist meant to assess and follow children’s development from 2 to 60 months of age. The first screening tool (ASQ-3) focuses on general development. The second screening tool (ASQ:SE) focuses on social and emotional development. Both checklists are available in both English and Spanish.
